Have you ever been some place that even though you’ve never been, feels like you’ve known it all your life? That’s how I felt about London. I felt like I had been there a million times before and I never felt lost while I was there. Which by the way, if you know me at all, is kind of a big deal. I crave cities that have their own breath and pulse. London is alive and vibrant and diverse and exciting. It made me feel so very content. My poor husband came home to a wife who was insistent that we move instantly (still haven’t won that one).

Truth be told I had no where near enough time there. The history geek in me was overwhelmed with all the possibilities and since it was a solo trip for me I really had no agenda. I took my time, stopped in front of some of the iconic locations I had read about in volumes upon volumes in college, stopped in pubs, antique stores and sometimes right in the middle of a grassy knoll to people watch.

I also took the train to York for a day. (For all other Harry Potter nuts out there I did indeed go through Kings Cross and yes I did pretend go to Hogwarts.) I lost myself in cobble stone streets and old bookstores. I saw buildings with architecture that each had their own story, going from artistic era to artistic era effortlessly, coexisting in their own historical contrast.  I spent the whole trip feeling like a school girl in love.

As one of the highlights to my trip, I got to reconnect with one of my very first and favorite couples of all time. Susan and Ru’s wedding will remain one of my favorites because of the amazing connection these two share. So when I got the chance at getting them back in front of my camera, I was just giddy. I’m so thankful I got to work and share some wine with my sweet friends again. They were the perfect couple to set off the background of this magical place. XO
