This shoot will always have a special place in my heart. It was at sunrise (my absolute favorite time to shoot), it was in  the most beautiful location I’ve ever shot and honestly, Rocky rocked my world. My cousin Matt, who is also a fabulous photographer (I’ll tell you more about him in upcoming posts) was along for the shoot as well. Shooting with him there brought out a little something new in me. For the first time in awhile I was very aware of what I was doing, forcing myself to be more vocal about my thought process and really claim ownership over the wacky ideas I  have sometimes, but am afraid to ask a client to do. I felt more comfortable directing and articulating exactly what I had in my head.  This was also my first shoot while I was out in Kauai and it awoke something in me that I had been waiting to click for some time.  I’m head over heels in love with these images, not just for what they are, but for what they make me feel and remember about the experience itself. OH and yes, Rocky is a mermaid. Feel free to sing any disney song at your leisure. XO
