I’ve been staring at this post for days. As an artist it feels daunting to try and narrow down your “best” of a year of work, the word “best” is so relative. The word has changed quite a bit for me in the last year. There are things that used to have weight that no longer do. So I have stopped trying to narrow down the best. Instead I’ve decided to drown out the noise of comparison and focus on these beautiful moments in time that are frozen forever. I’ve decided to narrow down the ones that make me feel something. The world is too full of contrived beauty coming at us from every angle, especially in this industry. Don’t get me wrong, I love a drama- filled shot (we know this). But those candid- raw- emotion ones take my heart, and this post, for 2016.

2016 is marked not only as the year we got to meet our hilarious son but also as a year where we worked with a long line of couples that continued to blow us away. These couples have joined us on adventures and traveled with us all over the country. Couples that laughed, cried and felt with us. Couples that most importantly, trust us. Trust us to capture them authentically and artistically. We have pushed ourselves beyond what we thought we were capable of this year, on no sleep and a much less open schedule. Our couples have embraced the change in our lives, celebrating with us, showering us (Rowan) with gifts, and acting like it’s not odd when our tiny assistant comes along on shoots. They have embraced the change in our lives with open arms and have made it easy for us to want to give them the world.

This isn’t a short post, so hang in there. There are far more images than I originally planned to include, and honestly I could have included more. I’ve laid them out as the wedding day usually flows for us . Getting ready, first look/bride and groom portraits, bridal party, ceremony and reception. I’ve sprinkled in a few of my favorite engagement moments in there too. Thank you for following along. Thank you for sticking with us as we navigate the demands of parenthood. Thank you for trusting us to capture your memories. Thank you 2016. 2017 is going to have so much to live up to. XO
